I came for the pie and I stayed for the people!
Strawn’s Eat Shop in Shreveport, Louisiana opened their doors in 1944 and became famous for their Strawberry Icebox Pie. Growing up reading Southern Living I had heard about this place and decide that one day, I would eat a piece. This weekend I can say that I have been, I have tried and I loved every bite!
It’s not just their pie that is good, its everything. The original building, the people, the articles on the walls, the view of The Centenary College across the street and all the other items on their menu. I sat a table near the window with a view of the road and I can imagine a couple walking from campus to Strawn’s to share a piece of pie at the very table I was sitting at.
I ordered lunch (a summer salad that was on special) and piece of pie.
I will be returning and I can’t wait.
