So the other night I was too lazy to go to the grocery store but I wanted to make something awesome for dinner. I was ransacking my fridge and pantry hoping to find anything for an inspired meal. I managed to find a couple pounds of ground turkey. I thought ‘TURKEY BURGERS!” so I grabbed some parmesan cheese, onion and spinach and started cooking!
These turned out to be the most amazing burgers i’ve ever eaten. They were perfect for the rest of the week, or until they were gone! I had them plain, with ketchup, cheese, cut up on salad or just for a snack. To make these for dinner you’ll need:
- A couple pounds of ground turkey
- Fresh spinach
- Parmesan cheese
- Onion (chopped finely)
- Black pepper
- Salt (pinch)
- Louisiana Hot Sauce (guilty for putting this in everything)
Mix all of the ingredients together. Form into patties, Toss on the grill or brown in skillet followed by 20 minutes in the oven at 350. Ta Dah! Yum.
Have you ever been sitting at home, about to prepare the spinach and salmon salad that you eat just about everyday when that ‘irresistible cheesy pizza craving’ hits? Well maybe this isn’t as normal as I think it is. Last weekend I couldn’t help myself, I had to have pizza. I created the perfect flatbread pizza crust recipe. Its much better for you than going out and getting pizza from a restaurant. On top of the whole wheat, no egg or yeast crust, I brushed on olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, basil, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and prosciutto! Toss it in the oven for 25 mins and you’ll have the best healified pizza around!
What you’ll need for the crust:
1 1/3 cup of whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup skim milk
3 tsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
What you’ll need for the toppings (or toppings of your choice):
Fresh mozzarella Cheese
3 Roma Tomatoes
Olive oil for brushing
Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herbs
Mix all the dry ingredient for the crust, add the wet and stir until dough forms. This dough will be on the dry side add a little more milk if desired. The texture of the crust will be cracker like on the bottom but chewy near the surface. Let the dough sit for 10 minutes. Roll out on a cookie sheet into your choice of shape. Cook the crust alone for 8 minutes at 400. Take out the cooked crust and brush with olive oil or sauce. Add toppings and return to the oven to 20-25 minutes. Remove when cheese is in its perfect melted state. Mmm.
